Frequently asked questions

What families and participants should know.

Quick answers about attending an event, supervision, group activities, photos, safety, and the January 2027 pilot.

Who can attend?

Kids Cars and Coffee family events welcome young people under 18 when they attend with a parent, legal guardian, or family-authorized adult who remains part of the experience. Events are not drop-off programs.

How much does an event cost?

The January 2027 pilot is planned as a free family event. If a future event has any event-specific cost, it will be clearly stated before registration.

When and where is the next event?

Our planned relaunch is Saturday, January 30, 2027, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM Pacific in Southern California. The venue, capacity, parking, and check-in details will be published after they are confirmed.

How do we RSVP?

Until formal registration opens, families can join the relaunch list or submit family event interest. We will publish the final RSVP process with the confirmed event details.

What should we bring?

Bring the parent, guardian, or family-authorized adult who will remain with the young person, your RSVP or event confirmation if one is issued, weather-appropriate clothing, and any questions you want to ask car owners or career speakers. You do not need to own or bring a special car to attend as a family.

How long do events last?

The January 30, 2027 relaunch is planned for 9:00 AM–12:00 PM Pacific. Future event lengths may vary; each announcement will include its start and end times.

How is youth supervision handled?

Youth conversations stay in visible, public areas with parents, guardians, staff, volunteers, or other adults present. No participating adult may be alone and out of sight with a young person at a KCC event.

Does KCC offer individual mentoring?

KCC does not offer private one-to-one mentoring or mentor matching. Adults must not have unsupervised one-to-one interactions, provide private transportation, or exchange private electronic messages with minors through KCC activities. Any emergency or other controlled exception must be specifically authorized by Board-adopted youth-safety policies.

How can my family participate?

A parent or legal guardian can register family interest for supervised group events and educational activities. The family’s responsible adult stays involved; events are not drop-off programs.

What happens with photos and video?

Photo and media choices are handled separately. Submitted photos are not published automatically, and identifiable minors require parent or guardian permission. See Photo & Media Consent.

How do I report a concern?

At an event, go to check-in and ask for the Event Safety Lead, whose name will be identified onsite. For a non-emergency concern before or after an event, use our dedicated Youth Safety Concern pathway. If there is immediate danger or an emergency, call 911 first.

Are all types of cars welcome?

Yes. Classics, muscle, European, JDM, trucks, modified vehicles, daily drivers with a story, exotics, and other enthusiast vehicles can all contribute. The point is connection, not a particular brand or price range.

Is Kids Cars and Coffee already a 501(c)(3)?

Yes. Kids Cars and Coffee is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity, with federal tax exemption effective September 27, 2026 (EIN 88-1004658). Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
